Day 1: Arrival in Arusha – Gateway to Safari
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be greeted by your safari guide and transferred to your hotel or lodge in Arusha, a vibrant city nestled at the foot of Mount Meru. After checking in and relaxing, you’ll have a pre-safari briefing. Depending on your arrival time, you may explore local markets or the Cultural Heritage Centre. Enjoy dinner at the lodge and rest up for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park – Elephants and Baobabs
After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive approximately two hours to Tarangire National Park, known for its large herds of elephants, ancient baobab trees, and seasonal swamps. Enjoy a full-day game drive through the park, spotting wildlife such as lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and over 500 species of birds. Stop for a picnic lunch inside the park, then continue your game drive into the late afternoon. In the evening, head to your lodge or tented camp just outside the park for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Tarangire to Serengeti – Journey into the Endless Plains
After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park via the scenic route through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This is a long but incredibly scenic drive (around 5-6 hours) with chances to spot wildlife along the way. Arrive in the Serengeti by midday and enjoy a game drive en route to your lodge or tented camp. The Serengeti’s vast plains are home to the Great Migration (depending on the season), as well as big cats, elephants, buffalo, and much more. Settle in for dinner and spend the night surrounded by the sounds of the wild.
Day 4: Full Day in Serengeti – Wildlife Wonderland
Spend the entire day exploring the Serengeti’s diverse landscapes and rich wildlife. You can opt for a sunrise game drive to catch predators in action, followed by breakfast in the bush. Continue tracking animals across different regions of the park with your guide’s expertise. You may witness the Great Migration (if timed right), or encounter lions lounging under acacia trees, cheetahs on the prowl, or elephants at waterholes. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush and return to your camp in the evening for a well-earned rest under the stars.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater – Wildlife in a Natural Amphitheater & Return to Arusha
After an early breakfast, drive toward Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders. Descend 600 meters into the crater for a half-day game drive. The crater floor is a haven for wildlife, including rhinos, hippos, lions, and a dense population of herbivores. Enjoy lunch at a scenic picnic site near a hippo pool. In the afternoon, begin your drive back to Arusha, arriving in the early evening. Depending on your travel plans, you may transfer directly to the airport or spend another night in Arusha.
